Japanese films, anyone watch them?
Me, I love anything with Toshiro Mifune in them as you know it's going to be a cracker also just been tucking into the absolute great Shintaro Katsu as the blind masseur who is also a master swordsman, I can't get enough of them.

A short taste of Mifune:

Possibly the best sword fight of all time

For those interested in the samurai stuff, I've now booked all my screenings as part of LEAFF and tickets are on sale.

I'll be showing:

- Harakiri
- Sword of Doom
- Lone Wolf part 1&2 double bill
- 13 Assassins

for dates and tickets:
http://deptfordcinema.org/current-seasons

Only 6 quid per film, Lone Wolf double bill ticket for a tenner.

Re: Japanese films, anyone watch them?
Zatoichi was on the long list, but almost impossible to get licensed to screen. Another backup was the Kitano version, which the French distributors wanted a ridiculous amount for.

The lineup is: Harakiri, Sword of Doom, Lone Wolf and Cub 1&2 double bill, 13 Assassins.

Re: Japanese films, anyone watch them?
Blunders, I guess no Shintaro Katsu's Zatoichi, as he wasn't strictly a Samurai, I believe he was Yakuza?

Joey,

I forgot Marnie, loved it. Wind Rises was beautiful too. I've seen all the Ghiblis except for My Neighbours the Yamadas.

I've seen Kon's Paprika and Perfect Blue. Watched half of Tokyo Godfathers this week, was getting tired so switched it off to come to, but enjoyed what seen so far.

A Tale Of Two Sisters is a brilliant horror film that doesn't need of rely on gore
